Your adventure begins the moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where our friendly Adventure Central team will be ready to greet you. A comfortable transfer takes you to your hotel in Moshi, a charming town nestled at the base of the mountain. Relax in a cozy room with hot showers, a swimming pool, and reliable Wi-Fi—perfect for unwinding after your journey. In the evening, meet our expert expedition team for a comprehensive briefing and gear check, ensuring you are fully prepared for the thrilling days ahead.
Drive: 3 hours | Trek: 4km, ~3.5 hours
The adventure truly kicks off with a scenic drive to Lemosho Gate, where you’ll complete registration and fuel up with a delicious lunch. The trek begins through a lush rainforest, alive with colobus monkeys swinging through the canopy. After a few hours of trekking, you will arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, a serene setting nestled in the forestyour first night under the stars on the mountain.
Trek: 6km, ~6 hours
Leaving the rainforest behind, you’ll ascend through the moorland zone, where tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock formations create a surreal landscape. Crossing streams and climbing up the Shira Ridge, you will be rewarded with your first breathtaking views of Kibo Peak. Tonight, you will camp at Shira Camp 1, marking your first experience at high altitude.

Arriving at Barranco Camp, you will settle in with an unforgettable view of the majestic Barranco Wall, tomorrow’s challenge.
Trek: 6km, ~4 hours
After breakfast, gear up for an exciting climb up the Barranco Wall, a non-technical but thrilling scramble that rewards you with stunning vistas of Kilimanjaro’s glaciers. From the top, the trail winds through valleys and ridges before reaching Karanga Camp. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a short acclimatization hike to prepare for the summit push ahead.
Trek: 7km, ~4 hours
The trek to Barafu Camp follows a steadily ascending ridge, with panoramic views of the summit looming ahead. This is your final camp before the summit attempt, so after an early dinner, you will rest and recharge for the ultimate challenge – the climb to Uhuru Peak!
Trek: 15km, ~11 hours
Midnight start! You will begin the final ascent in the dark, guided by headlamps and the glittering stars above. The steep climb takes you past Stella Point (5,739m) before reaching the highest point in Africa – Uhuru Peak (5,895m)! Watch the sunrise over the continent as you stand on the Roof of Africa – an experience unlike any other. After celebrating your achievement, you will descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for a well-earned night’s sleep.
Trek: 10km, ~4 hours
The final leg of your trek takes you through lush rainforests as you descend to Mweka Gate. Here, you will receive your summit certificates, marking your incredible achievement. A short drive brings you back to Moshi, where a hot shower, celebratory meal, and comfortable bed await!
